Give from your Heart

We invite you to open your heart to the homeless.  Our purpose is to connect you to them and raise donations in order to fill a few of their basic needs.

  • We invite you to share in the blessing of sharing conversation, prayer, smiles, and hugs with the homeless community. In Matthew 22:39, Jesus says Love your neighbor as yourself.
  • We invite you to do the God's work, feel free to get out of the comfort of the church and onto the streets where we feed the homeless. In her book, Knowing God intimately, Joyce Meyer is quoted as saying, "sitting in church does not make one a Christian any more than sitting in a garage makes one a car."
  • Everyone at MHTC is a volunteer. We ask you to come and meet those that make up the homeless community, see for yourself that all of God’s creations are precious.
  • Share the blessings God has bestowed upon you and your family and they will be multiplied. The bible states in the book of Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

In February, we celebrated our second anniversary. In these two past years Miles Of Help Through Christ has help thousands of homeless and poor individuals. God provided what we needed through good folks like yourself who went into their closets and pantries and few into their pockets and gave of the limited resources they had. I'm sure each and everyone of those individuals that came to serve as volunteers and those who sponsored food and toiletries also have experienced blessings. This year we are restructuring, once again inviting professionals, grant writers, accountants, lawyers, volunteers of all ages especially the teens trying to gain community service credit for their college applications.

We have seen many miracles; torn rotator cuffs healed with medical intervention, a hernia on the verge of being operated   disappear to the point where the surgeon reordered x-rays. I also saw a drunken man praise God and become drunken with the Holy Spirit. I saw a group of people pray and the rain stop.

I witnessed a group of individuals of different denominations come together to form a small non-profit, tax-exempt, 501c3 that became known as "Miles of Help Through Christ". I also saw that same group go out several times a month to areas highly populated by homeless and poor people to bring prayer, clothes, shoes, coats, toiletries to people they never met but grew to have a relationship with and love.

Miles of Help Through Christ in that year also ventured into the woods in Orlando, where men and women alike make their humble homes out of tents and tarps. We are quick and flashy to give to those abroad but can be so cold and cruel to our own needy.  Let's take care of home too.

This past week, we helped Luis Watts get into his own apartment. A few different individuals and organizations pooled together to make this happen. The total cost was less than $1000. Luis is now working and will maintain his own place.  While we can place a few more individuals before these resources become depleted, we just don't currently have the funds or financial contributions coming in. We can place at least six more individuals with your help. Click the PayPal link help us pull six more people out of the homeless tent cities in the woods.

I invite you to come together with us. Bring the skills that distinguish you from everyone else. Bring a willing heart. Help this homeless ministry entering it's second year of service. Only God knows what's in store but when He sent Noah to build an ark the size of a football field, Noah had to get up and do the work. As the bible says the work is plentiful and the laborers are few.

Florida is home to the most numbers of homeless people. There are so many sad stories out there, our society is bland to them all. Come on an outing with us, experience the poverty level for yourself, if it doesn't touch your heart to see people sleeping on floors resting their heads on rocks, sheltered from the cold by what they wear and possibly the overhang of a building. Think of the women whom do not have access to a sanitary clean bathroom with a shower.

We have a long way to go as a group and as a society. We've taken the first step, we've crossed the boundaries of religion, race, language, sex and stench, come on out, sponsor or work behind the scenes to help us help those who have been abandoned, unemployed and discarded as human waste. Help us give them back their dignity and faith in God.
